About me

Daphne Pratt
MBACP – Relationship & Couples Psychotherapist, Systemic Practitioner, Fertility & IVF Counselling Specialist & Parenting Coach

Welcome to Daphne Pratt Counselling.

I’m Daphne Pratt, an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist supporting individuals, couples and families through relationship difficulties, fertility and IVF challenges, anxiety, low mood, stress and periods of change. I offer a confidential, compassionate space where you can talk openly, understand what is happening, and begin to find a way forward.

With more than 20 years’ experience, I bring together specialist training in couples and relationship therapy, systemic family therapy, psychodynamic approaches, mediation and parenting support. My work is thoughtful, collaborative and practical, helping clients recognise patterns, improve communication and make changes that feel realistic and lasting.

I work with adults, young people, couples and families, and I have particular experience supporting clients through fertility treatment, IVF, donor conception, pregnancy loss and the emotional strain these experiences can place on individuals and relationships.

Whether you are seeking support for yourself, your relationship or your family, Daphne Pratt Counselling offers a calm, professional and non-judgemental place to begin.

Therapy Process
Introductory Consultation

The first step is a free Introductory consultation by telephone which will give you the chance to outline the difficulties you want to address and to discuss the best way forward. We can talk about what you want from therapy and work out the best possible options to suit your individual needs. It’s friendly, informal and completely confidential.

To book your Introductory consultation, click on the booking form below and select your preferred date and time or email us here, contact@daphneprattcounselling.co.uk. The introduction call will be an opportunity for you to ask any questions or discuss any concerns that you may have, and it doesn’t commit you to any further ongoing therapy, consultation, mediation, or coaching.

Session Plan

Following the introductory consultation, counselling and therapy sessions can be arranged weekly, fortnightly, or according to a schedule that suits your needs. Individual sessions are between 50 and 60 minutes, and couples or family sessions between 50 and 75 minutes. Occasionally there may be between-session activities to support your progress.

The number of sessions will vary depending on your individual circumstances. We will discuss and agree together on the most appropriate approach for your therapy. You have the flexibility to book individual sessions or opt for a regular arrangement

Full Process

There is no fixed number of sessions. For some people, weekly counselling is helpful at the beginning; for others, fortnightly or monthly sessions are more appropriate. Many clients gradually reduce the frequency of appointments as they begin to feel more settled. The pace and length of therapy can be discussed and reviewed so the support continues to fit your needs.

Let’s Discuss

There are times when everyone experiences difficult, distressing feelings which interfere with everyday life and relationships, and confiding in friends or family members just doesn’t feel right. That’s when it can be helpful to talk things through with a completely neutral person who you know will be supportive and won’t make judgments about what you say.

Whether your problems are from the past, going on right now or impact upon your future, exploring the issues in a confidential place with an experienced, qualified counsellor can help to face challenges, make changes and move forward in the way that is right for you.

I know that it can be daunting to take the first steps towards making changes in your life; sometimes facing difficulties can feel distressing or frightening. But with a little courage and our support you really can begin to understand yourself and your difficulties with more clarity, recognise the things that are holding you back and explore different ways to make positive change happen.

Recognising that you could do with some support is the first step – it’s a strength in itself

Fertility & IVF Counselling

Fertility treatment can be emotionally demanding, physically exhausting and deeply personal. Daphne offers specialist fertility and IVF counselling for individuals and couples before, during and after treatment, with sessions available online or in person where appropriate.

Fertility journey support. Counselling can help you prepare emotionally, manage uncertainty, cope with treatment cycles and make space for the complex feelings that can arise at each stage.

  • Before treatment: preparing emotionally, managing expectations and talking through anxieties about the process.
  • During treatment: developing coping strategies for uncertainty, appointments, hormone treatment and the emotional impact of IVF cycles.
  • After treatment: processing outcomes, whether successful or not, and navigating grief, relief, disappointment or change with care.

Support for couples. Fertility difficulties can place strain on communication, intimacy and decision-making. Drawing on her specialism in couples and relationship therapy, Daphne offers a safe space to work through differing emotional responses, improve communication and face difficult decisions together.

Professional and confidential. All sessions are confidential, with online and in-person appointments available. Pricing is available on enquiry or through the booking page where listed.

Whatever stage of the fertility journey you are at, support is available.
